The Armenian Young Women’s Association (AYWA) and Women Entrepreneurs’ Network in Armenia have organised Women’s Entrepreneurship Week in Armenia, which has been taking place from 16-22 November 2015. Among various events organised within this week, Women’s Entrepreneurship Day was celebrated on 19 November 2015. The beneficiaries of the EU-funded “Social and Economic Empowerment of Women in Armenia” programme, which is being implemented by AYWA, also attended the event.

Encouraging and empowering more women to enter business will have a remarkably positive financial and social impact both on the country and global level. Lilit Asatryan, the Head of the AYWA, talked about the importance of the event: ‘Women’s Entrepreneurship Week in Armenia is part of Global Entrepreneurship Week, in which more than 140 countries are participating. We have decided to combine this event with our EU-funded programme and use the occasion to again bring our beneficiaries together. The aim of this event is to show how women’s entrepreneurship is important for our country and for showcasing what we are doing on our programme. Today’s speakers will talk about their own experience, challenges and, of course, will encourage others’.

Women’s Entrepreneurship Day aims to promote women’s entrepreneurship in Armenia by increasing awareness on entrepreneurial activities, promoting women’s entrepreneurship, and creating new partnerships among women entrepreneurs.
