Transforming public space on Europe Day

3 June 2013

Noting the start of Europe Day celebrations in Armenia, a creative discussion took place on 12 May at the Leningradyan industrial workshop in Yerevan. The aim of the initiative was to introduce European contemporary art trends to Armenian public spaces.
The European Union Delegation to Armenia, led by the Ambassador Traian Hristea, organised the event, which was called “Transformation of Public Spaces”.
The creative discussion was the culmination of a two-day European Arts Master Class, which resulted in a colourful art installation. Art students had the opportunity to learn and apply the techniques of street and graffiti art, and later discuss those during a workshop, curated by Ararat Minasyan.
An animated film was created based on the art installation and screened on 24 May as part of the Europe Day overnight performance on Northern Avenue.
