Prizes for first EU online quiz

25 February 2014

On 20 February 2014 an awards ceremony was held at EU Centre for the first online quiz organised by the EU Delegation to Armenia.
The quiz consisted of 16 multiple choice questions, with links for further information embedded in the website. The quiz was open to Armenian residents only and was available online from 16 September to 1 December 2013.
The quiz was taken by a total of 1,570 participants (1,205 and 365 times in the Armenian and English languages respectively); 206 people received full marks on the Armenian quiz, with 110 getting 100% on the English version.
The names of the three main winners were drawn by the Head of the EU Delegation in Armenia, Ambassador Traian Hristea on 3 December 2013, who then presented them prizes on 20 February 2014.
First prize, a new laptop, went to Anush Torosyan from Vanadzor; second prize, a netbook, went to translator Ninel Miqayelyan from Yerevan; third prize, a Kindle eBook, went to student Verjine Minasyan.
‘Our aim is to promote EU-Armenia cooperation and do it in an interactive way which involves as many people as possible. It was a big surprise for us to see so many people taking part in the quiz and to have a large amount of people who gave right answers to all the questions,’ said Hristea. He went on to say that the next online quiz would be held in April, and encouraged everybody to try again.
During the second part of the event the EU Centre invited those participants who had received full marks in the quiz to take part in some special activities. These were focused on informative and fun exercises, in which participants could test their own skills about EU programmes and projects in Armenia. Topics discussed the visa facilitation agreement, migration, consumer protection, the Eastern Partnership, and the Erasmus+ programme. 118 participants received EU Centre promotional materials; the winning team was awarded with additional prizes.
