10 April 2019

IMG_0021On 14 March “Havat” hard hearing children’s mothers’ NGO presented the ‘Online school for parents’ project. The project was funded through a sub-grant under the European Union’s ‘BRIDGE for CSOs’ programme. This three-year programme, launched in December 2016, is being funded by the European Union and implemented by the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU), in cooperation with the Eurasia Partnership Foundation (EPF). The ‘Parents’ Online School’ project was launched on 1 December 2018 and will run until 1 June 2019. The EU contribution for this online project is AMD 9 million; the NGO’s contribution is AMD 450,000.

“Havat” was founded in 1996 at the Republican Surdocentre of the Arabkir Medical Complex, where more than 1,500 children and adolescents with hearing impairments between the ages of 0-18 are registered. “Havat” aims to gather together families of children with hearing problems. The organisation has implemented many projects promoting children’s rights and interests, solving their educational, health and social issues, and improving the quality of their lives.

Capture 1This project is an online one. Many families with children with hearing impairments live in regions, outside of Yerevan and are not able to visit the Surdocentre and receive expert advice. ‘Online school for parents’ will be a free platform that will provide parents with comprehensive information on different topics, starting from discovering children’s hearing problems to the nuances of inclusive education. 15 videos are expected to produce in the framework of the EU-co-funded project, the topics have been chosen and discussed with the experts. The videos are being posted on the organisation’s site, Facebook page, and YouTube channel.
