“Na/Ne” winners announced

The “Na/Ne” media competition announced its 5th Anniversary Edition winners on 12 February 2013.
The annual competition is organised by the British Council, the British Embassy in Yerevan, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe Office in Yerevan, the United Nations Population Fund, and World Vision Armenia, in partnership with the European Union. Other partners include Oxfam Armenia, the Public Journalism Club, the Institute of War and Peace Reporting, and the Armenian Young Women’s Association.
Eligible competition participants were journalists from Armenian printed and online media, TV and radio companies, as well as independent journalists. Submitted materials had to have been published or broadcast between 1 January to 31 December 2012, and covered the activities and achievements, problems and challenges of women in the political, economic and social spheres.

This year, 143 journalists with 250 pieces of work competed in the following categories: TV Programme, Radio Programme, Printed Article, Online Article, Citizen Report/Blog Article, Photo Report, and Commercial Advertisement.

The jury panel members, which included Manana Aslamazyan, “Alternative Resources in Media” Programme Director, Gnel Nalbandyan, Editor in-Chief at ArmNews, and Jemma Hasratyan, President for the Armenian Association of Women with University Education Centre for Gender Studies, chose the best 21 submissions.

For the TV Programme category there were 25 submissions. First prize went to Naira Martirosyan, journalist at “Internews”, for her programme “European Perspective”.

For the Radio Programme category, first prize was awarded to Anush Mkrtchyan from “Radio Liberty”.

For the Printed Article category, no one was awarded with the first prize. However, four participants won the second and the third prizes. A joint second prize went to Nelly Papayan from “Aravot daily” and Mariam Mughdusyan from “Ankakh”. Joint third prize was awarded to Khosrov Klghatyan from “Geghama Ashkharh” and Irina Abroyan from “Respublica Armenia”.

The Citizen Report/Blog Article category winner was Anushik Avetyan from Ditaket.am.

The best Online Article was announced as Astghik Sargsyan’s article from Hraparak.am.

Nelly Shishmanyan from “My News” won the best Photo report.

The Comercial Advertisment category only had a third place winner.

The partners of the event also delivered 11 special awards.

This year “Na/Ne” celebrated its 5th Anniversary. To celebrate this anniversary the organisers awarded the special prize of a study tour to the UK to Sara Khojoyan.
