“I am also a citizen of this country”

23 March 2011

“I am also a citizen of this country”, an event to celebrate the International Day of Disabled Persons, was held on 3 December 2010 by the Child Development Foundation.
The objective of the event was to raise awareness within Armenian society and among the authorities about the concerns and achievements of children with special needs. Participants stressed that such children do not require particular compassion and understanding, but equal rights. During the event, children put on a new performance prepared for the Foundation theatre, played games and exhibited handmade arts and crafts.
Anahit Bakhshyan, a National Assembly member, representatives of local and international organisations, artists, musicians and singers were among the event’s attendees.
The event was hosted as part of the EU-funded “Reducing Violence against Children in Armenia,” project, implemented by World Vision UK.
