Agricultural Census

Agricultural CensusIn 2012 Armenia will hold its first Agricultural Census, with data collected on land, livestock, equipment, human and financial resources management, and other factors. To inform the public about the census and its planning, a seminar for regional statistic agencies was organised with the support of the an EU Twinning project on 23-24 September in the village of Chkalovka in Gegharkunik marz.
Thomas Bea, the Resident Twinning Advisor, Nver Poghosyan, the Governor of Gegharkunik marz, and Stepan Mnatsakanyan, the Head of the National Statistical Service of the Republic of Armenia (NSSRA), attended the seminar. The Chief Advisor at Statistics Sweden, Rolf Slander, and an expert from the US Department of Agriculture, Michael Steiner, were also invited and gave presentations on international census experience and EU legislation.
The EU Twinning Project “Forwarding Armenian Statistics through Twinning” is a two-year project with a total budget of €1 million. It is being implemented by NSSRA in cooperation with the Government of Denmark through Statistics Denmark.
